Description

Both a landscaped garden and an edible forest, Une Figue dans le Poirier (A Fig in the Pear Tree) has offered a unique contemporary garden in the Grand Est region since 2015, where English aesthetics, Japanese philosophy, French topiary, the beauty of wild landscapes, contemporary art, and the science of permaculture converge.
With great poetry, Lilian Didier sculpts, shapes, and structures the landscape with his dual perspective as a landscape architect and visual artist. Like an Impressionist painter, he plays with contrasts, vanishing points, textures, foliage, and the entire palette of colors at his disposal to create a unique and sensitive garden, an ode to the diversity and beauty of the plant kingdom, both past and present, with its collection of 3,000 plants from around the world.
His perspective on the world, its evolution, the power dynamics between biodiversity and the political context, the slow evolution of human ecology... leads him to create socially engaged landscapes and artworks, blending poetry and questioning. Whether made of paint, concrete, metal, ink, or plant materials, his works speak with a single, unified voice.
In 2018, Lilian Didier fell in love with a new medium: metal. He built a forge in the heart of the Une Figue dans le Poirier garden to produce gardening tools and experiment with shaping steel and precious metals. Summer demonstrations transport visitors to a magical and welcoming world.
The team of professionals at Une Figue dans le Poirier offers activities for all ages to enjoy with family and friends! Themed guided tours for the general public, students, and professionals; permaculture workshops; activities for families, schools, and summer camps...
Une Figue dans le Poirier is much more than just a garden!
